STRANGER OF PARADISE FINAL FANTASY ORIGIN comes from games maestros Team Ninja of Nioh, Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive fame. It is a tale of prophecy and of the foretold coming of the Warriors of Light. Follow Jack and his allies, Ash and Jed, as they battle through numerous challenges to bring the light of the crystals back to Cornelia, a kingdom conquered by darkness. But are they the Warriors of Light the prophecy foretold? I guess you will have to play to find out.
Although this is a brand-new take on the FINAL FANTASY series, long-time fans shouldn’t worry as the game doesn’t forget its roots with a story, characters, locations and more that directly call back to that original game and draws inspiration from the main titles in the series.
Spoilers…although unless you have been living under a rock you won’t have failed to hear that the games protagonist Jack is destined to become the infamous, sinister warrior known as Garland and eagle-eyed fans will also spot other familiar characters including Captain Bikke, the King of Cornelia, Princess Sarah and terrifying fiend of the wind Tiamat. How many can you spot? The game also features some locations that fans will recognise including Pirates’ hideout Pravoka Seagrot a mystical landscape of brightly coloured coral that recalls Sastasha of FINAL FANTASY XIV, whilst the blizzard beaten mountain landscape of Hallowed Massif recalls Mt. Gagazet of FINAL FANTASY X and do I have to mention the crossing of the northern bridge of Cornelia, a fond memory for fans of the original FINAL FANTASY which in many ways signalled the beginning of the series as a whole.
So, what can you expect from the game? Well, for starters this game boasts and delivers the most brutal and merciless battles in FINAL FANTASY history, that will more than scratch your action itch. And the game’s strong job system allows you to find the fighting style that suits your mood, you can seamlessly jump from hand-to-hand combat to spell or sword swinging, and much more. Play as FINAL FANTASY classics such as Swordsman, Thief, Lancer or try something a little different including amongst other Red mage, Berserker and Samurai.
And the fun doesn’t stop with the main game. The Season Pass contains three glorious pieces of expansion that enriches your gaming experience with new worlds to discover, new enemies to battle, new job classes to play as and more generous doses of re-imagined FINAL FANTASY nostalgia to discover.
