Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is a colorful mash-up of tabletop role-play gaming and Borderlands looter shootering in an unpredictable fantasy world overseen by everyone’s favorite teen demolitionist Tiny Tina.

While the game may feel familiar to fans of Borderlands’ flavor of mayhem, there are some differences you might want to know before dropping into this particular Gearbox Software creation.

We hope this rundown of tips and tricks helps you enjoy your time in Tina’s high-fantasy wonder world.

Multiclass

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands has lots of class, thanks mostly to its multiclass system. That means that even after you choose your primary role when you start the game, you’ll be able to augment that with a second class down the line. Once you’ve selected both classes, you’ll also be able to decide how your character balances through its class feats, action skills, and skill trees.

Melee Combat

This may be a game packed with Gearbox’s trademark big ol’ boomsticks, but melee combat still plays a pivotal role in your rambling adventures through the Wonderlands. The game’s swords, axes, mallets, and more can be used to stagger approaching hordes while attacking just-out-of-reach enemies repositions you with a glide attack.

Melee weapons can also include modifiers that empower your spellcasting and shooting. So, for instance, a hit with a sword might also impart ammo or reduce spell cooldown.

Spells

Guns and melee weapons are fine but don’t forget this game has magic, the kind that lets you launch mini tornados, fireballs, and summon a tiny hydras. Spell use is essential to help maximize damage, but other spells can also help protect or empower teammates.

Gear

The weapons and spells of Wonderlands may seem like they’re doing the heavy lifting, but you also don’t want to forget about the wearable gear that will buff your characters, making it easier to take damage and dish it out. 

Wards are Wonderlands’ take on shields and each has unique manufacturers. Ashen wards have lower capacity but recharge quickly. Pangoblins are the opposite, with beefy capacity but long, slow recharge rates. And Hyperius wards come with unique bonuses when fully charged, like zapping enemies that hit you or powering up your shots.

Rings and amulets aren’t just zesty bling for your character’s ensemble, the two rings you select to wear also boost loadouts, and your single amulet of choice grants special effects.

Character Customization

When you build out your character, you’ll be spending your hero points on six basic stats, which are then modified by which of the five lore backgrounds you select. 

You can either craft your character's appearance manually or randomize until you find something you like. Then you get to layer on your preferred personality, which will impact how you interact with the many characters of Wonderlands.

Finally, don’t forget to personalize your banner, which can be seen all across Brighthoof. It shows up in the Overworld whenever you conquer an area. Don’t forget to revisit your design after playing a bit because you can unlock some pretty cool customization tweaks from enemies you take out.

Perpetual Play

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands has a nifty little endgame feature called the Chaos Chamber, which creates unique runs for you by mashing together three randomized dungeon rooms, a mini-boss fight, three more dungeon rooms, and then a main boss fight.  Completing a run earns you awesome gear and more.
