Warframe making a surprise appearance in Fortnite, a noir detective Warframe and an upcoming, free Narrative Chapter that takes place in a new Star Chart were among the big announcements made at this year’s TennoCon over the weekend.

The annual celebration of all things Warframe (and now Soulframe) underscores the success of the 14-year-old free-to-play action role-playing third-person online multiplayer shooter, which now has 85 million players.

Warframe: Tau

Warframe’s next major narrative chapter is essentially a noir detective story that has players traveling to the Tau System and investigating what’s become of the Sentient ring city of Fornax. 

Once there, players will take on the role of Brysko, a Sentient Warframe brought back to life by Albrecht Entrati. Brysko (voiced by Critical Role’s Matthew Mercer) walks through the world with a running inner monologue as he sets about trying to infiltrate the inner circle of organized crime lord The Hunra (voiced by Janathan Bullock). Besides the sharp inner monologue, Brysko is armed with brass knuckles, explosive playing cards, and an Exalted revolver Magnum named the Corecraker.
 

Fornax is a grim, crime-ridden city made bleak by the constant black rain, casinos, shipping docks, and slums. Along with trying to get close to The Hunra, you’ll also have to deal with the Fornax Drowners, who have evolved differently than the Sentients you may have encountered back in the Origin System.

The game also features a card mini-game called Portau, an interpretation of poker with its own suite of Blooms, Cores, Moons, and Suns, and, of course, the ability to try your luck on the slot machines.

The studio also revealed details about the Warframe: Tau’s original track. “View from the Top” is an original noir trip-hop song sung by Canadian vocalist Jill Harris.

The dive into Warframe: Tau wrapped up with a promise from Ford that while there’s a whole new star system to explore, the Origin System will continue to receive regular story beats.

Along with the new Warframe and new Narrative Chapter, devs Digital Extremes also laid out details about a number of other bits and pieces coming to Warframe.

The Iceblade of Narin will be the big fall update this year, introducing the female ice-themed 66th Warframe, a Banshee Warframe rework and deluxe skin, as well as a deluxe skin for Qorvex. The update will also drop the Citrine Prime, the next Prime Warframe.

Amir’s Shockwave is a new kind of Warframe side story via a special Nightwave remix, hosted by the Protoframe Amir (Volt) for a collection of Warframe: 1999-themed cosmetics. Return to the K.I.M. messaging system for a new mini-role-playing adventure with The Hex crew full of magic dice, formidable foes, and exclusive rewards, including a new song from the in-game boy band On-lyne: “Running Late.”

Mesa gets a new Heirloom Collection of cosmetics with fashionable, and Toggleable poncho primed for customizing.

Finally, we got more details on the TENNNOVIP World Tour 2026, and TENNOCON 2027. Events are planned for South Korea on Sept. 4, China on Sept. 12, London on OCt. 2, and Glasgow on Oct. 4. And next year’s TennoCon will make its return to London, Ontario, Canada on July 16-17 for the community event’s 12th year.
