The Witcher 3: Songs of the Past revealed | Remaster release date Sept. 29, 2026

While most people thought that Geralt’s wanderings in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt were over, CD Projekt RED thought otherwise.

The Songs of the Past DLC is a reprisal of the series that was considered complete by many, adding the seemingly peaceful land of Letten to the world map, and setting Geralt on a collision with an ancient foe.

According to the official press release: “This idyllic land is rich in rural tradition and folklore, and its people enjoy a fulfilling life of bountiful harvests and lavish festivals. But a dark secret lurks just beneath the surface, and Geralt must overcome never-before-seen foes as he fights to overcome its long-dormant evil.”

The trailer shows Geralt caught up in a familiar style of revelry: women with flowers woven into their hair, dancers whirling around from partner to partner — confusion sweeps around with the music. And we get a good look at what’s underneath all that: a twisted, mangled tree with a mind, and body, of its own. We also get to see a new weapon, the chain, which adds a fun, grapply twist to the game’s combat.

CD Projekt added: “Equipped with new abilities and a new weapon, the chain, Geralt will face never-before-seen foes, reunite with old friends, and embark on a gripping adventure filled with difficult decisions and meaningful consequences.”

This is great news to everyone who has spent countless hours as Geralt, battling monsters, solving crimes, and tweaking their builds. Both of the game’s story DLCs — Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine — are critically acclaimed, helping the decade-old game to age like a fine, well, wine.

But that’s not all. A new, remastered edition of The Witcher 3 was also announced, adding a lengthy list of updates to the base game. CD Projekt said: “A slew of upgrades and enhancements to visuals, performance, gameplay, and more are coming to the acclaimed role-playing game. Players can experience the entire epic adventure with upgraded visuals, enhanced combat, improved traversal and movement, new Witcher Sign effects, revamped mount handling, enhanced monster behaviors, a skill tree revamp, transmogrification, expanded photo mode, new finishers, and much more.”

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered is a free upgrade for players who own The Witcher 3 on Epic Games Store, and includes both Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine expansions.

So toss a coin, and a wishlist, to your Witcher, and prepare for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Songs of the Past.
