Why Early Access?

The whole road trip is already playable, alone or in online co-op, and we want players driving it while we keep building. Your feedback decides what we polish and add next, before we call it finished.

What is included in Early Access?

  • The full trip: from your home to the Safe Zone 30 miles down the road, through forest, desert, the ghost town of Dry Creek, the ruins of Calder City and the snowy mountains.
  • Six vehicles to find and fix up - van, muscle car, pickup, RV, box truck and school bus - plus trailers you can build on.
  • Upgrades (armor, cattle guard, turbo, roof lights and more), stores, camping gear, solar power and furniture to turn a camper into a home on wheels.
  • Dogs and cats that ride along with you.
  • Online co-op for up to 8 players, with text and voice chat.
  • An optional stream mode: viewers' gifts during your live stream can set off zombie hordes, supply drops and more (Options > Stream / Gifts).
  • 24 achievements, full controller support, adjustable text size, and 9 languages.

What is the current state of the product?

The whole trip is playable from start to finish, alone or in online co-op for up to 8 players, and the game is stable. We're still polishing it: online driving can feel a little delayed on a slow connection, and big 8-player games need a strong PC (see the known issues below).

How long will the game be in Early Access?

About 6-12 months, depending on what players tell us. We'll post updates as we go.

Will I have access to the product during the entire Early Access phase?

Yes. Once you buy the game, you can play it for the whole of Early Access and keep it at full release, with every update included at no extra cost.

How will the full version be different?

We plan to:

  • make online driving smoother, especially for players far from the host;
  • improve performance in big 8-player games;
  • add more places, events and things to find along the road.

Will the price change after Early Access?

The price will go up when the full version releases. Buying now gets you every update at no extra cost.

Are there any known issues?

  • With a slow connection to the host, steering your own car online can feel a little delayed.
  • Hosting 8 players needs a strong PC.
