Why Early Access?
We believe The Clownhouse will become stronger with community feedback. Early Access allows players to experience the core survival horror roguelite loop now — breaking into a cursed mansion, scavenging valuables and tickets, hiding from the clown, and deciding when to escape — while helping us refine the game through real player reactions.
Horror lives or dies by tension, pacing, balance, and replayability. Early Access gives us the chance to improve all of those with direct feedback as we expand the mansion, progression systems, content, and overall polish.
How long will the game be in Early Access?
We currently expect The Clownhouse to remain in Early Access for around 8 to 12 months. This may change depending on development progress, scope, and community feedback.
Our goal during this period is to keep improving the core experience while adding meaningful content updates, balance improvements, quality-of-life changes, and additional replayability.
How will the full version differ from Early Access?
The Early Access version is planned to include the core gameplay loop: exploring a procedurally generated mansion, scavenging valuables and tickets, hiding from the clown, surviving without combat, and using progression systems to improve future runs.
During Early Access, we plan to expand and improve the game with:
More mansion content, rooms, and events
Additional enemies, threats, and behaviors
Expanded progression, upgrades, and balancing
More items, interactables, and run variety
Deeper lore and environmental storytelling
Optional co-op support
Quality-of-life improvements, optimization, and bug fixes
Our goal for the full version is a larger, deeper, more polished, and more replayable experience built on player feedback.
What is the current state of the Early Access version?
The current Early Access version is planned as a playable foundation of The Clownhouse’s core experience. Players will be able to enter the mansion, explore its procedurally generated layout, scavenge valuables and tickets, avoid danger through stealth and careful movement, and decide when to escape with what they have collected.
The core gameplay loop is already defined, but we plan to continue expanding content, refining progression, improving balance, and polishing the overall experience throughout Early Access.
Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?
We plan to gradually increase the price as we add significant new content and features during Early Access. Players who purchase the game early will get the best value and receive all future updates at no additional cost. We want to reward early supporters who believe in the project from the beginning.
How do you plan to involve the community in development?
Community feedback will play an important role in shaping The Clownhouse during Early Access. We plan to listen closely to player reactions and use that feedback to improve gameplay, balance, pacing, and future content.
We expect to involve the community through:
Steam Community discussions and forums
Steam reviews and player feedback
Social media posts and development updates
Community spaces such as Discord
Ongoing iteration based on what players respond to most
We want The Clownhouse to become a better horror game because of the people who play it.
