What is Grid Defense?

A fast, minimalist tower defense. You build and specialize six towers along a single winding path and hold off escalating waves of creeps — including tower-smashing golems and bosses.

Is it single-player or multiplayer?

Single-player. There's no online multiplayer, but a global leaderboard lets you compete for high scores against players worldwide.

Are there in-app purchases, ads, or paid DLC?

No. Grid Defense is a one-time purchase — no microtransactions, no ads, no paywalls. You get the whole game.

How do I play?

Place towers along the path and upgrade them; at max level, lock in a specialization. Manage your gold, deploy a roaming dwarf hero to rescue towers, and stop creeps from reaching the exit.

How long is it? Is there an endless mode?

Clear the victory wave to win the run, then unlock endless mode to see how far you can push. Three difficulties add replayability.

What are the system requirements?

Windows 10/11 (64-bit), any modern dual-core CPU, 2 GB RAM, ~100 MB disk space, integrated graphics. Requires the Microsoft Edge WebView2 runtime (preinstalled on Windows 10/11).

What controls does it use?

Grid Defense is played with mouse and keyboard. Gamepad support isn't currently available.

What languages are supported?

English.

How do I get support or report a bug?

Email [email protected] and I'll get back to you.

What is included in Early Access?

Early Access gives you the complete game exactly as it stands today, with nothing held back or gated behind a trial. That means all six tower types with their final specialization choices, per-tower veteran ranks earned from kills, the deployable roaming Dwarf hero, the full enemy roster (grunts, runners, tanks, regens, splitters, healers, wasps, tower-smashing golems, shielded Wardens, and bosses), three difficulties, a full victory campaign plus unlockable endless mode once you clear it, and the live global anti-cheat leaderboard with per-difficulty boards. Your $1.99 unlocks the whole uncapped desktop game with no trial wall, and there are no microtransactions, ads, or paid DLC. Every content update I ship during Early Access is included at no extra cost.

What is the current state of the product?

Grid Defense is already a polished, feature-complete tower defense game, not a rough prototype or an unfinished build. It ships with all six specialized towers, veteran ranks, the deployable Dwarf hero, the full creep roster with bosses, structural tower HP, three difficulties, endless mode, a live global leaderboard, and a settings menu with sound and reduced-motion toggles. It's the same deterministic build I play daily. Early Access here is about adding more content and polish over time based on player feedback, not filling in missing core systems, which are already done.

Will I have access to the product during the entire Early Access phase?

Yes. Once you buy Grid Defense it's yours to play for the entire Early Access period and after the full 1.0 release, with no separate purchase, upgrade fee, or re-buy at launch. Every update downloads automatically through the Epic Games Store, and your progress and leaderboard scores carry straight across. Early Access buyers keep full access to everything at no additional cost.

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

The full version simply has more of what's already here; the core game doesn't need fixing, so 1.0 is about additions. Planned and in-progress content includes a Weekly Challenge mode (one shared board for everyone with a rotating weekly modifier that resets Mondays), a new Phantom enemy and a Ranger hero, achievements and a Creep Codex bestiary, and a full sound and music pass. I'll also fold in the balance and quality-of-life changes that leaderboard data and player feedback surface. The core loop — build, specialize, hold the line — stays exactly as it is.

Approximately how long will this product be in Early Access?

I'm planning on roughly a few months to about a year, shipped as free versioned patches, then a 1.0 once the roadmap lands. Because the game is already feature-complete, that time goes entirely into new content, balance, and polish rather than finishing core systems. I'm deliberately not committing to a hard end date — the exact timing depends on how the roadmap and player feedback shake out, and I'd rather ship it right than ship it fast.

How are you planning on involving the community in your development process?

I'm a solo developer, so I read every piece of feedback and every bug report myself, and each patch is shaped directly by what players ask for. The live per-difficulty leaderboard also shows me how people actually play, which drives my balance decisions. Recent updates — the shielded Warden enemies, the settings menu, and per-difficulty leaderboard tabs — came straight out of that loop. You can reach me anytime at [email protected], and I genuinely act on what I hear.

Will the price change after Early Access?

Grid Defense is $1.99 now, and I intend to keep it at $1.99 through Early Access and after the full 1.0 launch. Buying early gets you that same fair price plus every future update for free, and there are no microtransactions, ads, or paid DLC. Early buyers are never charged the difference and never pay again for content added during Early Access or at 1.0.
