Why Early Access?

Early Access is the best way to realize the full potential of Main Sequence, as it allows the game to evolve based on feedback from the community. Making the game available in Early Access means that players can help shape each update along the journey, which ultimately makes the game more balanced, engaging, and enjoyable.

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

The plan is for Early Access to last 1 to 2 years, with the most important factor being that the game is a complete and well-rounded experience when it leaves Early Access.

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

For the full version of Main Sequence we plan to have more building options and customization, as well as quality-of-life features. This could include new factions, new modules for ships and stations, and new production lines. We plan on expanding the world with more places to explore, things to discover, and characters to meet.

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

The core mechanics and progression are fully playable, where you start as a humble miner and build up an interstellar logistics empire. You can design space ships and space stations, with lots of options for both functionality and decoration. You can trade with NPCs and fight alien enemies. And of course you can build massive factories, and automate everything in the game so far. There is currently around 40 hours of content, though fans of automation will hopefully find these systems deep enough to offer many more hours than that.

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

Yes, the 1.0 price will be adjusted to reflect the game’s progress and expanded content.

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

The creations that players share are awesome to see and play a big role in informing the development process. There are direct channels for feedback built into the game, as well as ways to engage with the community. Gathering feedback and engaging with the community is at the core of Early Access so as new opportunities come up those will be explored as well.
