What is Valannia?

Valannia is an upcoming massively multiplayer online (MMO) game that offers players an immersive strategy experience in a fantasy world. With eight different races to choose from, each with unique characteristics, players can customize their hero and enhance their skills and equipment as they progress in the game.

Players will have the chance to explore an expansive world, fight massive RTS battles, gather resources, precious gems, and rare items, as well as craft complex objects which allows players to create a powerful arsenal of tools for their own use and trade. Additionally, players can become owners of their own castle, where they can build and recruit troops to strengthen their position and expand their territory.

When will the full game be released?

Valannia is currently under development and will be released iteratively through an early MVP and then game modules in both web and Unreal Engine 5 over the next 2-4 years. This allows the game to continuously expand while the community immerses themselves in the Valannia gaming and co-creation experience. Our MVP is Valannia Arena which is due to come out in the end of 2024 (Alpha version).

Our approach is to first build out a fully functional UE5 PVP where players can fight 1v1 and 2v2 arena battles with their heroes and combat units in competitive seasons with rewards. In parallel to this, we will build a functional MVP of the MMO world in a browser game with a functional economy, as well as Hero leveling, mining, crafting and invading territories in the map of Valannia.

Throughout development, these two pipelines will converge and players can experience Valannia through both with interoperability, in a fully MMO experience built in UE5.

How is blockchain, NFT, or cryptocurrency used in this product?

The Valannia economy is built on the state-of-the-art Solana blockchain. Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) obtained and traded within Valannia create an economy that replicates the tangibility of real world assets and ownership. With this technology, players have true ownership of their in-game assets such as Heroes, Combat Units, Raw materials, resources, armor/weapons, land, buildings, data, in-game currency and more. In Valannia, players and guilds will grow their own in-game empires, battle in exciting, high-stakes RTS combat, mine, refine and trade valuable resources, and deploy their own crafted armor, weapons and buildings through Valannia’s blockchain-based economy.

Another way the blockchain is utilized is through the Valannia Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) where players can participate in political gameplay by deploying $VAL tokens for voting power in the DAO and voting on proposals that affect all of Valannia. This will allow the community to decide the game’s direction, development and economy in the long term.

All assets in the Valannia metaverse are secured on the Solana blockchain’s public ledger. This means verifiable ownership and transaction history for all assets. This is what’s making these assets immutable, unique, interoperable, and tradable.

Does this product require me to connect an external wallet?

Although you need a Solana-based wallet to play, you do not need to connect an external wallet. In order to allow seamless play in our UE5 environments, Valannia will utilize a wallet which is integrated into the UE5 game client. This can be set up very easily in the game itself and Valannia Arena can be played without having to own any assets.

What wallets does this product support?

In addition to the native in-game Valannia wallet (which is used for our Valannia Arena), the browser-based experience and marketplace support the Phantom Solana wallet. Support for more wallets will be coming soon.

Can I use the product without interacting or engaging with blockchain, NFT, or cryptocurrency?

Yes, you are able to enter and play by creating a wallet and not interacting with the blockchain beyond the initial wallet setup. That said, to experience all that Valannia has to offer—from the Marketplace to the DAO—you will need to engage with NFTs and the blockchain. Valannia has a mission to embrace blockchain technology and give true ownership of assets to its players. Our goal is to make the onboarding of new players as easy as possible over time.

What chain does this product use? Is the chain proof-of-work or proof-of-stake?

Valannia utilizes the Solana blockchain for all in-game transactions. The move to create Valannia on the Solana blockchain was a decision to pursue efficiency and maintain an environmentally conscious focus. Solana’s censorship-resistant proof-of-history consensus mechanism means the security of the network does not depend on high energy usage (in contrast to proof-of-work blockchains). This allows Solana transactions to use less energy than two Google searches.

Does this product have a marketplace? What can I do with the things that I earn (or purchase)?

Yes, the Valannia Marketplace can be found at https://market.valannia.com/ (Opens in new tab). Players can buy and sell their assets on the marketplace that they bought or earned in-game.

Are there items (such as additional content, offers or currency) for sale that are used in the gameplay of your product?

Yes. Heroes, Combat Units and other artifacts are / will be available on the marketplace for purchase which are used in the game. All items can also be bought and sold between other players. Further items such as gear, weapons and buildings are craftable and will also be bought and sold on the marketplace after the MMO release of the game.

Can your product be used without making any in-app purchases?

Yes. There will be a free to play option to be able to start the game without purchasing any items.

Are in-app purchases refundable?

No. However, as there is an active secondary marketplace between players, all items can be sold to other players on the marketplace.

What payment platform is used to facilitate in-app purchases?

Valannia has its own marketplace where payments can be made on the Solana blockchain as well as FIAT onramps in the future.
