Developer Balancing Monkey Games’ Beyond These Stars is a game about building the city on the back of a space whale.
A trailer from Gamescom Awesome Indies 2025 showed off the game’s scale, from the giant whale to the individual people bustling around the cities and factories. As you build your civilization, you’ll also travel the galaxy, blast off from the whale, land on planets you’ve discovered, and create a city based on harmony.
DarkSwitch
DarkSwitch is a game about city-building and survival, and it’s centered around a giant, protective tree.
A trailer for Developer Cyber Temple Games’ upcoming title told the story about building a city vertically up the tree but also the trunk, where the Fog and its threats lie. We saw players gathering resources, upgrading through a huge skill tree, and battling monstrosities as they built an ornate city and buildings in the fantasy-soaked realm.

Good Boy is a cozy metroidvania starring the LAIKA Space Rover, a robot who captures and researches alien creatures, completes quests, and creates loving bonds.
A trailer for Good Boy at Gamescom Awesome Indies 2025 showed off developer Observer Interactive’s lush alien environments, idyllic and playful aliens, and the adorable LAIKA rover befriending everything it sees.

Cralon
The creepy confines of Cralon, the 3D dungeon crawler from the developers at Pithead Studio, were on display in a trailer shown during Gamescom Awesome Indies 2025.
The story follows a demon hunter who falls into an abyss and has to fight to survive. The trailer showed off the game’s first-person perspective, dimly lit caverns and hallways, and the horned, demonic infestations that stand between players and victory.

Gallipoli is a first-person shooter set in the Middle Eastern Front of WWI, where beach landings and desert warfare take center stage.
At Gamescom Awesome Indies 2025, a trailer for developer BlackMill Games’ FPS showed off its sand-caked battles, deadly charges across dunes and through city streets, as soldiers scrambled to avoid the onslaught.
