What is included in Early Access?
Our primary focus at the moment is to create an engaging and immersive experience for players in the first map or "Chapter" of our game. We're working hard to ensure that this initial section of the game is highly polished and provides a great introduction to the game's mechanics, AI, and progression systems.
However, our work doesn't stop there. We're also committed to creating additional maps, quests, monsters, and other exciting features during the early access phase. By constantly expanding and improving the game, we hope to provide a rich and satisfying experience for players throughout the entire journey.
We're grateful for your support and feedback during this process, and we're excited to share this journey with you. Thank you for joining us on this adventure!
What is the current state of the game?
If you're curious about the progress of our game development, we encourage you to check out our monthly dev blogs on our website. There you'll find a detailed breakdown of our progress, including information on new features, bug fixes, and other updates. Additionally, if you're looking for more granular information, you can join our Discord community to access weekly patch notes and other updates.
We're pleased to share that we're nearing the completion of our first demo, which will include all of the core mechanics and art for our core game loop. Once the demo is ready, we'll focus on playtesting and refining the gameplay to ensure it's both enjoyable and replayable. This is also when we'll start iterating on our AI to create creatures that feel alive and terrifying.
How long will the game be in Early Access?
While it's difficult to predict at the stage of development, our goal is to exit early access by the end of 2025. We believe this should give us adequate time to iterate on Macabre based on community playtests and feedback.
How often will you be updating the game?
At present, we operate on a weekly cadence and plan to continue this approach throughout the early access period. This means that you can expect to see regular updates at the end of each week, which may include bug fixes, balance tweaks, and small features or enhancements.
For larger patches or major updates, such as the release of new chapters or quests, the frequency may vary. We'll ensure to keep you updated on our plans as we move forward so that you can stay informed and prepared for any changes.
We're committed to keeping the game fresh and exciting for our players, and regular updates are a key part of that mission.
Will my progress be saved during updates?
Our first release will include player accounts and EOS integration, which will allow us to keep track of player stats and inventory. This feature will add an extra layer of depth and immersion to the game, making it easier for players to track their progress and stay engaged.
As with any game, we may need to periodically reset player progress to maintain game balance and ensure an enjoyable experience. This will completely depend on community feedback and overall balance. However, we understand that this can be disheartening, but we'll do our best to minimize the impact and provide advance notice whenever possible.
Will the price change when the game leaves Early Access?
While we haven't finalized the price for Macabre at full release, we can assure you that it will be fair and reflective of the amount of content included in the game. We have plenty planned for the early access phase, including new maps, quest lines and monsters, so it's likely that the price will increase.
Game development is a complex and resource-intensive process. That's why purchasing Macabre during the early access phase not only gives you access to the game at a discounted rate but also helps us cover the costs associated with development. By supporting us directly, you'll be enabling us to bring even more exciting features and content to the game in the future.
Can I provide feedback and bug reports?
At the heart of our Early Access release is our desire to create a game that truly engages and challenges players. We want to observe how you navigate through the game's challenges, interact with our AI, and make tough decisions. Our goal is to create creatures that feel alive, and that make you think deeply about each choice you make. In order to achieve this, we need to test and gather feedback from players like you.
We understand the importance of community feedback in game development, and we value your input greatly. That's why we encourage you to join our Discord community and become part of our playtesting group. By participating in Early Access, you'll have the opportunity to shape the game's development and contribute to its success. We're excited to hear your thoughts and ideas, and we look forward to working together to create a truly immersive horror experience.
