Why Early Access?

Jackbox Games is attempting to add true online multiplayer and matchmaking to this game, which would be a major first for our studio. We'd like to see if we can build and grow a meaningful multiplayer community, which also means supporting this title with regular new content, online features, and game modes over a multi-year roadmap.

We are interested in Early Access because we want to involve a large audience in helping to shape the future development of this game. We are planning to have a robust and polished version of the game that supports online multiplayer ready for our Early Access launch, but are very interested in involving the community to iterate and evolve the product from there -- what online multiplayer features, game modes, or content are players enjoying that we should expand upon? What feels missing that we should consider prioritizing next? We expect our early access period to help us answer many of these questions to shape the future development roadmap of this game for years to come.

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

We are considering our Early Access period to be roughly 6 months to 1 year in length -- after which we'd launch the game in full while expanding it to other platforms as well.

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

We are considering our 'full' version to have rich online multiplayer social features, as well as meaningful mechanisms for engagement and retention such as live events, season passes, daily/weekly challenges, and other live service features.

We expect our Early Access period to help us gather insights from our players to shape exactly how those features take priority and come together.

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

We are currently in active production on the game. We have a working game loop and are building out more content (trivia questions and mini-game levels) and the online multiplayer and replication tech.

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

Pricing reflects the game’s current state which will remain unchanged throughout the Early Access period. Prices may increase after Early Access to reflect ongoing updates and improvements

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

  • In-game, we will have a call-to-action to fill out surveys regularly during Early Access, and for players to join the community Discord server.

  • We plan to provide regular (blog updates on the state of development) on our website, and social media platforms.

  • We plan to engage directly with our customers, answering questions and running polls to gauge feedback and interest on various topics regularly on Discord.
