The Future Games Show Summer Showcase 2024 continued this week of video game announcements, filled with news, trailers, and behind-the-scenes details on games like The Casting of Frank Stone, First Dwarf, Once Human, The Precinct, Dustborn, Pneumata, Starship Troopers: Extermination, and many more games coming to the Epic Games Store.

Below you'll find all the highlights from a show that split hosting duties between Britt Baron (Tifa Lockhart in Final Fantasy VII Remake) and Roger Clark (Arthur Morgan in Red Dead Redemption 2). Bogdan’s Cross

The trailer for Bogdan’s Cross kicked off the Future Games Show with the story of a long and difficult journey, featuring both Templar knights and...animals dressed as knights. Developer Federico Breser’s singleplayer game follows a former Templar on a mission to atone for his sins. As its Epic Games Store page says, Bogdan’s Cross is “isn't just a game, it's an epic journey filled with suspense, discovery, and inspiration.”

First Dwarf

Developer Star Drifters’ upcoming action-role-playing game, First Dwarf, puts engineer dwarves in mechs and sets them loose in a fantasy world that’s seen better days. Combining elements of base building and crafting, it tells the story of a scouting engineer who boards airships, lands on floating islands, and gathers materials to save the kingdom.

Once Human

Once Human is developer Starry Studio’s multiplayer open-world survival game, and showed up for the second time this week at the Future Games Show after making an appearance at yesterday's Summer Game Fest showcase. As the title says, the survivors in Once Human may have once been human—but in this post-apocalyptic world contaminated by a mysterious extraterrestrial substance called Stardust, they’ve become Meta-Humans, and it’s their job to reclaim humanity and the world.

The developer-narrated video in the Future Games Show showed off the vast open world from its mountain peaks to its river valleys, as well as monster design and Meta-Human survival capabilities.

Diabotical Rogue

Diabotical Rogue is a first-person shooter with roguelike elements from developer GD Studio. Available now in Early Access, players pick between three characters and equip their upgrades in two different game modes. In 4v4 Wipeout, respawn timers increase with every death, while in the 16v16 Warmup mode, you'll be partaking in a large-scale team-based shootout. Diabotical Rogue also has a custom map editor, for all you creative types.

Starvaders

The developers at StarVaders Games describe StarVaders as a cross between Slay the Spire, Into the Breach, and Space Invaders. The turn-based strategy game lets you pilot mecha armor, fight alien invaders, and play through a roguelite campaign centered around card battles (and featuring hundreds of cards).

The Precinct

The Precinct is, to hear developer Fallen Tree Games describe it, a “love letter to classic cop movies” and ‘80s-themed neon-noir. As rookie cop Nick Cordell Jr., players solve procedurally generated crimes in Averno City, survive car and helicopter chases (which you can see in the trailer), and solve the mystery of Nick’s father’s murder.

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2

A new trailer for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 debuted during the Future Games Show, taking viewers on a detailed tour of frontlines where hordes of aliens serve as target practice for burly Space Marines. The game has a mix of third-person, over-the-shoulder combat and up-close-and-personal melee fighting, and it’s all on display in today's narrated trailer, which expands on what we saw in yesterday's Summer Game Fest presentation.

Goat Simulator 3 - Multiverse of Nonsense

Multiverse of Nonsense is a new expansion to Goat Simulator 3, arriving June 19, 2024. The premise here is that everything’s gone wrong, it’s all your fault, and now you have to save the world—or at least help the guardian of the Multiverse. Multiverse of Nonsense adds eight playable goats, a new map, and more than 100 new gear pickups to Goat Simulator 3. Also, your goats can now talk to people, because players kept asking Coffee Stain North to add that feature.

Dustborn

Dustborn is a singleplayer, story-driven action-adventure game about hope, love, friendships, robots…and the power of words. You play as Pax, and Pax has the ability to weaponize language itself. The game follows his journey from Pacifica to Nova Scotia, transporting a stolen package across the Divided States of America.

Today's Future Games Show trailer follows a group of four people who get pulled over by the highway patrol in the middle of nowhere. Things go south—and then (a bit tragically) back to good again. We won’t spoil it.

Dustborn comes from Red Thread Games, headed up by acclaimed writer Ragnar Tørnquist and developer of Dreamfall Chapters and Draugen. Fitting for a narrative-driven game, you may also recognize its publisher Quantic Dream from games like Beyond: Two Souls and Detroit: Become Human.

Pneumata

Pneumata, developed by Deadbolt Interactive, is a first-person survival horror game set in a small Missouri town reeling from murders at the old Clover Hill Apartments.

The Future Games Show trailer showed off Pneumata's bleak, urban landscape. Players will take on the role of David Hernandez, a detective struggling with a traumatic brain injury and the loss of his wife. Hernandez dives into the investigation at the Clover Hill Apartments, uncovering the dark, Lovecraftian secrets behind the series of murders—and no shortage of what its creators describe as “disturbing and brutal gameplay,” as the line between reality and fantasy continues to blur.

Starship Troopers: Extermination Update

Starship Troopers: Extermination, the co-op first-person shooter from developer Offworld Industries, is getting an interstellar update that debuted during the Future Games Show Summer Showcase 2024.

The developers touted a new system that lets players bring more carnage and war to the bugs when they arrive at Planet X 11—a planet deep within the Bug Zone, making it particularly dangerous. But don't worry! The brave humans of the Deep Space Vanguard Special Forces unit are heading there to defend the most important listening post in the Federation. The upcoming update is Offworld Industries’ first attempt to blend indoor and outdoor combat environments. Also, bugs now have armor—and if you know how to aim and use the right weapon, you’ll be rewarded with a quick kill.

The Casting of Frank Stone

The Casting of Frank Stone, set in the Dead By Daylight universe, is a horror game from Supermassive Games—and as you might expect from the developers behind Until Dawn and The Quarry, there's a heavy emphasis on player choice and how it affects the game’s narrative.

In today's Future Games Show footage, The Casting of Frank Stone's developers take viewers on a deep dive into the collaboration required to produce a singleplayer narrative game inside of the Dead by Daylight universe. Supermassive Games’ Creative Director Steve Goss described The Casting of Frank Stone as “an unashamed horror experience,” based on a story that the developers had been working on for a while and that happened to fit in well with Dead by Daylight lore.

The Casting of Frank Stone starts with a story set in 1963, but the game branches into different directions and subgenres of horror as it progresses, like a classic slasher movie featuring the archetypal group of teenagers.
