The Summer Game Fest 2025 livestream ended, and then Day of the Devs: Summer Game Fest Edition 2025 began only moments later, featuring just over an hour of independent games in its dedicated spotlight. Founded in 2012 by Double Fine Productions and iam8bit, Day of the Devs is now a nonprofit organization that celebrates and showcases indie games and the people who make them. You can read all of the news from the show, tailored for Epic Games Store players below.

But that’s not all! Before you go, check out our Summer Game Fest landing page on the Epic Games Store, and follow along with Epic Games Store news for an extensive look at all of this week's biggest reveals, interviews, and hands-on impressions.

Snap & Grab

Snap & Grab from developer No Goblin is a game about taking pictures (the titular snapping) and catching (or grabbing, if you will) valuable objects.

Set in the 1980s, the trailer that kicked off Day of the Devs: Summer Game Fest Edition 2025 showed off the stylish neon-drenched gameplay. You play as the world’s greatest photographer, visiting rich and lavish settings, taking pictures, and deciding what to steal. With the help of your crew, you’ll grab the loot (along with whatever helps you grab the loot). With the pictures you take, you’ll plan your heist.

Snap & Grab is set for an early 2026 release in the Epic Games Store.

Big Walk

Big Walk is a game where you hang out with friends, walking and talking, in development at Untitled Goose Game developer House House and published by the venerable Panic.

Even the developers at House House admitted that Big Walk is a difficult game to describe in words. It’s fundamentally about walking and talking, and the video showed off Big Walk's open world, puzzles, and discoverable locations—as well as some ways that communication will help you solve puzzles and get out of jams together.

Sword of the Sea

In Sword of the Sea, from developer Giant Squid (ABZU, Journey, and The Pathless), you’re a hoversword surfer of sand and water. The hoversword is what you get if you combine a snowboard, skateboard, and surfboard. Movement is inspired by games like the Tony Hawk series, and Sword of the Sea’s Summer Game Fest trailer showed the character building up momentum, pulling off tricks, and exploring a gorgeous world with strong Journey vibes, including music by Austin Wintory.

Check out Sword of the Sea in the Epic Games Store, and add it to your wishlist ahead of its August 19, 2025 release date.

Escape Academy 2: Back 2 School

Coin Crew Games’ Escape Academy 2 expands on the puzzle-based gameplay found in its 2022 predecessor Escape Academy, challenging players to become “the ultimate Escapist.”

The Day of the Devs trailer called it an “open world escape room,” and developer Wyatt Bushnell said that the campus where you learn to become an Escapist is itself an escape room. Developer Mike Salyh said that the decision to include “more Academy” was at the top of the player feedback list that they received, so Escape Academy 2 is giving players what they want—a fully 3D campus where you can explore and meet other students.

Escape Academy 2: Back 2 School is coming to the Epic Games Store.

Relooted

Relooted’s creators at Nyamakop describe it as an “Africanfuturist heist game” where players “plan, parkour, and reclaim real looted African Artifacts from Western museums.”

The game’s debut trailer showed off some of Relooted's side-scrolling parkour action. A crew of like-minded specialists sets off on a quest to recover 70 real-life artifacts, jumping over, sliding under, and generally evading high-tech security systems—and since Relooted takes place at the end of the 21st century, that’s a lot of futuristic technology to bypass, including deadly laser beams.

Thick as Thieves

Thick as Thieves pits players against players—and everyone against the environment. It's a competitive immersive sim, courtesy of a team of industry veterans that includes Greg LoPiccolo (Thief: Deadly Shadows) and David McDonough (Sid Meier’s Civilization VI: New Frontier Pass and XCOM: Chimera Squad), and Chief Creative Officer Warren Spector.

At Summer Game Fest 2025, we watched several sections of pre-alpha gameplay footage, highlighting the open-world stealth mechanics. As one of the developers pointed out, you might be able to memorize portions of the map, but the humans you’re playing with give the game a tense and unpredictable undercurrent. It’s every-thief-for-themselves, sneaking, breaking in, and hiding in the shadows, both indoors and outside. For more, don’t miss our interview with Warren Spector, who told us that a core goal behind Thick as Thieves is to evoke the feeling of playing a tabletop RPG.
